And after neither side was able to find the net in 30 minutes of extra-time, a penalty shootout was required to determine a winner.  

Gersbach stepped up to the spot and converted his side’s second penalty to hand Lens a 2-1 advantage in the shootout.

But back-to-back misses from teammates Souleymane Diarra and Walib Mesloub proved costly as the Ligue 2 outfit suffered a 4-2 loss on penalties.
